NSW: Govt scraps age limits to adopt a child
SYDNEY, Feb 22 AAP - Age limits for people wanting to adopt children were scrapped
today by the New South Wales government.
Under previous guidelines, the gap between an adoptive parent and a child could not
exceed 41 years.
But NSW Community Services Minister Faye Lo Po said older applicants were sometimes
more suitable as parents.
"They are more mature, financially stable and have time on their hands to provide children
with the security and loving environment they deserve," Ms Lo Po said in a statement.
