Fed: Rudd decides against airport appeal

Federal Opposition frontbencher KEVIN RUDD has decided against taking further legalaction to stop a parallel runway at Brisbane Airport.

The Federal MP for Griffith has been advised it's highly unlikely he'd win an appealagainst the federal court decision last month to rule in favour of the Brisbane AirportCorporation's plan.

Mr RUDD was ordered to pay all court costs for the BAC which is expected to amountto tens of thousands of dollars.

The opposition foreign affairs spokesman says another appeal would expose him to afurther substantial costs order.

Mr RUDD says it's been an extremely difficult decision but there are still other paths of action.

He says a new action plan will include a proper noise reduction plan for current operationsat the airport, as well as further action against the BAC and the federal government.
